Hello & welcome to Bay Area Home Schoolers.com. In the interest of simplicity we’ve decided to put together a faq in an attempt to answer questions you may have about our group.
Why was this group formed?
To provide the opportunity for kid’s of all ages to come together for fun filled days of structured activities and crafts.
There are already over 20 different homeschooling groups through out the Bay Area. Why another one?
It is our desire to bring all of the groups together to share a common interest, enhance socialization, strengthen the educational method of homeschooling, & create & share friendships.
How often are park days?
Park day will initially be once per month. As more people express a desire to meet more regularly we will ad more days during the month.
Where will park days be?
Park day locations will vary, however it is our goal to schedule it at a location mutually convenient for everyone. It is also our desire to establish carpooling for kids and families that may need a lift.
Why is park day & activities hosted by BAHS so far from where we live?
Bay Area Home Schoolers is a group intended for all bay area home schoolers throughout the bay area. One of the most difficult challenges we face is scheduling our activities at a convenient location for everyone! This is an impossible task so what we have done is to host activities infrequently hoping that homeschooling families would be willing to drive out of their area once per month!
Who will host the sports & fitness activities?
Kevin, one of our founders will host regular structured sports activities ranging from flag football, tag, dodge ball, baseball, hide & seek, four square, kickball, laser tag & more. As a fitness consultant & owner of Truth Fitness Inc. he understands and prioritizes the importance of our kids getting their daily dose of exercise.
What if my kids aren’t in to sports?
Añole our other founder and wife of Kevin will conduct regular workshops ranging from jewelry making, henna skin design, basket weaving, field trips & much more.
Is BAHS.com open to all homeschoolers & what if we practice unschooling or other types of homeschooling?
BAHS.com is open to all forms of homeschoolers & does not discriminate against religion, ethnicity, sexual preference, domestic status, shape, size, weight. We do not however support hitting children, physical or verbal abuse, or any other adverse methods of communicating with kids. Nor do we support or welcome profanity, gang behavior, disrespect, or mistreating others.
It is our desire as a group of like-minded folks to come together regularly to have fun, socialize, grow, evolve & contribute to one another’s experience of home-schooling.
I’ve been to other home schooling groups and my kids and I did not feel very welcome. What makes BAHS.com any different?
Oddly enough we have experienced this same phenomenon. You can rest assured you and your kids will receive a warm & sincere welcome each and every time we meet! One thing that we must always keep in the forefront of our minds is we all share a common thread, that being homeschooling. BAHS.COM is for the kids first and parents second, that being said we must do our best to to make the experience of park day as good as possible.
What if my family wanted to host lunch? What kinds of foods are welcome at park day?
Organic or natural, low sugar foods are best. Fruit over Doritos, wheat over white bread, turkey over ham, & water or Odwalla over soda. As a fitness consultant for women and kids it’s my job to enhance & preserve the health of individuals. Traders Joe's, Reel Foods, or Whole Foods are excellent resources for healthy food.
What if I wanted to host an activity ?
This is highly encouraged & more than welcome it.
What types of activities can we look forward to?
Jewelry design, museum field trips, amusement park field trips, space & science field trips, owl pellet workshops, henna skin design ropes course classes, dream catchers workshops , kayaking, basketball, bike riding, softball, tag, touch-football, hide & seek, dodge ball, indoor rock climbing, hiking, kite flying, group remote control car & model building, fishing, group educational lessons, indoor go-cart racing & more.
